The sea is rough, wind driving waves hard against the shore. Hannah and Will stand near the waterline. The wind tears at their hair and coats. They raise their voices against the tide.
Where are we?
We have a vacation house close by.
But why bring me here?
Because this is right after you receive the call. This is where they tell you that your mother died.
Because you survive it.
How does she die?
Why do you want to know?
Because you showed me.
And why wouldn’t you want to know? Isn’t that what any of us want? To see it coming, to make sense of it before it happens?
