EXT. STUDENT BAR - NIGHT #18#

The door bursts open. Julia stumbles out, coat slipping from her shoulder, bag half-unzipped. Music and voices spill into the street, then cut off as the door swings shut behind her. She makes it a few steps before leaning hard against the wall. Breath clouds in the night air. Her eyes close, head tipped back.

Her knees give. She slides down the brick, about to hit the pavement—

—but a hand shoots in, catching her under the arm. Steadying her. It’s Hannah.

HANNAH

Got you.

JULIA

Don't know you.

HANNAH

Don't have to know a person to save them from falling on concrete. Are you here by yourself?

JULIA

Are you hitting on me?

HANNAH

I really am not.

JULIA

People try.

HANNAH

Babe, all I'm trying to do is keep you steady.

JULIA

Are you drunk?

HANNAH

I don't think so.

JULIA

You don't sound so sure.

HANNAH

I think I was somewhere else just now.

JULIA

(still very drunk)

Me too.

HANNAH

(lifting her)

Okay. Let's get you home.
