Dim, warm light, same familiar bar. A low thrum of music under the chatter. Julia sits at the bar with a glass of wine, still half-full. She’s already buzzed, her hand loose around the stem. She studies the glass, takes another sip, eyes a little unfocused. A HUM starts, everyone in the bar oblivious except her, which is then CUT by the appearance of MIKE, who leans in next to her.
You here alone?
Is that a crime?
Not at all. But I'd hate for some random guy to bother you when you're trying to have a drink in peace.
You're right, that *would* be terrible.
So what are you drinking?
Why? Trying to get inspired?
Mike nods.
Wine. White wine.
Classic.
You're not very good at this, are you?
I'm Mike.
Julia.
And why are you sitting here alone, Julia?
Maybe I like it that way. Keeps the random guys guessing.
Long year.
It lands heavier than he expected as he sees Julia's face. He gives a polite nod.
You take care.
On Julia as she tries to hold it together.
