Tree shade dapples the café terrace; distant chatter, a dog barks.
Hannah sits at the table she sat in episode 1. But this time, we're watching the original meeting she always remembered - this is the Hannah we know before her journey started. At the other table, Josh is reading a book. He looks up, returns her gaze, and smiles.
Flannery O'Connor.
Excuse me?
Your book.
From the trees, Will watches; jaw tight. Graham steps forward. His words are soft but firm.
Not what you wanted, is it?
They're just talking.
For now. And in this timeline, she doesn't even know you.
Something breaks inside Will. Graham looks at him.
This isn't a game, Will. These are people's lives.

Will starts to turn, then Graham says:
