EXT. STREET - MORNING #15#

It's the morning after the party. The street is quiet; birds chirp from the trees, the morning dew fresh on the leaves and car windows. Will walks down the street, hands in his pockets, contemplating. As he passes by an alleyway, he notices Graham leaning on a wall. He keeps walking and Graham joins him.

GRAHAM

You disappeared on me.

WILL

That was months ago.

GRAHAM

That was a week ago. I've been trying to find you.

WILL

Well, I'm here. How can I help you?

GRAHAM

Did I do something wrong?

WILL

No, not at all. You gave me superpowers. Thank you.

GRAHAM

Will! Why won't you talk to me?

Will stops, sighs.

WILL

We don't know each other, and I don't want to. I don't want to think about any of this. I just want to move on.

GRAHAM

Is that what you've been doing? Moving on?

Will starts walking again.

GRAHAM

(calling after him)

I know about your visits.

Will stops in his tracks, but Graham stays behind.

GRAHAM

You think visiting your dying girlfriend every day is good for you?

Will's angry. He walks back to Graham.

WILL

How do you know about that?

GRAHAM

It's like an imprint. Travellers can feel each other. There's a lot I can teach you.

WILL

What I get up to is none of your business.

GRAHAM

I warned you not to change the past.

WILL

(exploding)

And I didn't! I didn't.

(more quiet now)

I sit there in that room every day pretending, lying to Maya that this is the first time I'm watching her die. Because that's what you told me to do. But if you think for a moment I'm not going to stay with her...

GRAHAM

You can't live in the past.

WILL

That's all I do.

(A beat.)

Because of you. So I'm asking you... please leave me alone.

He starts walking again, but Graham places a firm hand on his shoulder.

GRAHAM

You always have a choice.

Will pulls away again, then walks off angrily.
