Synopsis

In Will's office, Hannah's surrender surprises him; he presses why she's stopped fighting for Josh.

Action

Will's office — a lived-in workspace with papers, files, notebooks. Hannah visits Will. He shows her her own social media profile on his laptop: "Hannah Greene, freelance translator." They discuss where to go next, the orphan feeling of having no original timeline. Will explains his office belongs to the "local" Will who doesn't mind him snacking.

INT. WILL'S OFFICE - DAY #21#

A lived-in space. Blinds cut the light into pale bands. The desk is busy with papers, files, notebooks, ordered but not immaculate. Books line the shelves in straight rows, their spines unbroken. It has the feel of a place maintained for work, not comfort. Hannah and Will sit on opposite sides of the desk. In front of him is a laptop and a jar of cookies.

Well, this is surprising.

Which part?

Yesterday you were heartbroken.

Yesterday?

Don't start.

I still feel the same.

Then why stop trying to change it?

Because it won't be like I remember.

(thinking)

I'd love to find out what happened. But part of me thinks we'll never know.

You're probably right.

(thinking)

Where will you go now?

What do you mean?

Well, you're currently occupying this Hannah's body. She's having a blackout right now. How much time did you take?

After I reset? Just an hour.

That's good.

(seeing her reaction)

What?

I haven't really thought about it. With the original timeline gone... I'm an orphan.

We're both orphans.

(changing the subject)

What is this office, anyway?

Just like in my original timeline, I am, believe it or not, a strategy consultant. Independent. The Will in this timeline knows I exist. He doesn't mind me snacking.

He takes a cookie from the jar and offers it to Hannah.

(takes the cookie)

I wonder who I am here.

Yeah, I did too, so I did some research online.

(spins the laptop to reveal her social media profile)

Hannah Greene, freelance translator, loves to travel, has a lot of friends. Free. Unattached.

Hannah stares at the screen for a moment.

(small)

Where do I go?

Wherever you want, whenever you want.

I don't want to change anything anymore.

We already did, by our very presence. You just took over your own body for an hour. What would that Hannah have been doing?

Are you trying to make me feel bad?

No. Hannah, you can do whatever you want. You have a right to exist as much as the Hannah whose body you're in. It's symbiotic. Who knows? You could even be a team.

Alright. Maybe you're right. Maybe I just need a vacation.

She stands up. Will closes the laptop and does the same. They walk to the exit and into the hallway.

How will I find you?

Don't worry about it. I'll find you.

And what are you going to do?

I'm going to stick around a bit. There's a football match on tonight.

Don't you know the score already?

Hannah, I'm a time traveller, not a sports almanac.

They exit the office.
