A delicate, uncertain hand reaches for a carton of milk. It belongs to HANNAH. She pauses, frowning. Outside, a car horn blares. She flinches. Her breath catches for half a second. Through the shop window, a car speeds past. Gone. Hannah exhales, steadying herself. Her fingers tighten around the milk.
At the checkout, the CASHIER barely looks up, mechanically scanning Hannah's items. Beep. Beep. Hannah swipes her card and pays.
She grabs her bag, pushes her cart forward, then rounds a corner, distracted. CLANG! She slams straight into LILY.
I'm so sorry!
Lily steadies herself, brushing it off.
That's alright.
Hannah stops. Takes her in.
Lily?
Hey!
Before Lily can react, Hannah wraps her in a tight hug. Lily stiffens, then feels Hannah shaking. Her tone softens.
Babe, are you alright?
